Palworld Breeding Calculator

Choose two parent Pals and see which one hatches. This Palworld breeding calculator uses the hidden breeding rank the game itself relies on, so you get a real answer instead of a guess from a community chart. It covers the standard combination formula used at a Breeding Farm.

  • Rank based results
  • Every base Pal listed
  • Instant answer
  • Exceptions explained

The formula is child rank = (rank A + rank B + 1) ÷ 2, rounded down. The eligible Pal closest to that number hatches. If two Pals are equally close, the one listed first wins.

Select two Pals

Pick two parents on the left and press Breed.

Choose two Pals and hit Breed to see the offspring you would get from a Breeding Farm.

How Palworld breeding decides the child

Breeding feels random the first few times, but it follows a simple rule. Every Pal carries a hidden number that players call its breeding rank (the game files name it CombiRank), and nearly everything comes down to one small piece of arithmetic using that number.

Every Pal has a rank

It is a hidden value that runs from about 1 up to roughly 1,500. Early Pals like Chikipi and Lamball sit near the top of that range, while legendary and boss tier Pals sit near the bottom. The number reflects rarity, not raw fighting power.

The child is the average

Add both parent ranks, add one, then halve the total and round down. The eligible Pal sitting closest to that number is the one that hatches. That is why two mid tier parents often produce something neither of them resembles.

Some pairs break the rule

A group of specific pairings is hard coded to give a particular subspecies, no matter what the maths says. The section further down explains how to spot them.

Setting up a breeding farm

The maths only matters once two Pals can actually breed. The unlock chain is short, but each step is easy to miss on a first playthrough.

Breeding Farm

You can build it at level 19, but only after you have beaten the Lily and Lyleen boss fight at least once. Being the right level is not enough on its own.

A Cake

Bake one in a Cooking Pot using flour, berries, milk, eggs and honey. Drop it in the farm chest and breeding starts by itself.

Opposite genders

The farm needs one male and one female Pal. Most species split evenly, though a few, like Mozzarina and Kingpaca, lean heavily toward one gender.

Egg Incubator

It hatches the egg once it appears. Keeping the temperature comfortable for that egg type makes hatching noticeably faster.

Exceptions the rank formula doesn’t cover

Part of the Pal roster ignores the averaging formula completely. This tool predicts standard combination breeding only, so keep these two groups in mind whenever a result looks wrong.

Same species only

The child always matches the parents.

Some of the strongest Pals only hatch when both parents are the same species. Pair one of them with anything else and the calculator will still show a rank based number, but the game will not follow it, so treat that result as reference only.

Named subspecies pairs

A fixed pair gives a fixed variant.

Around 80 parent combinations are set by hand to produce a specific Cryst, Noct, Ignis, Lux, Terra, Aqua or Botan variant. Two of them, Wixen with Katress, even change their result depending on which parent is male.

This calculator does not include that override list. If you are hunting one particular variant, check the breeding page on the Palworld Wiki for the full set of pairs.

Why use a calculator instead of a breeding chart

Most breeding charts are a giant table of parent and child pairs, copied from someone’s spreadsheet onto a wiki page. That works until you need a combination the author left out, or an update shifts a few ranks and the chart quietly goes stale. A palworld breeding calculator runs the actual formula instead of a memorised table, so it covers every base Pal rather than only the pairs that made the cut.

It is also faster. Scrolling a chart for two species, matching the row to the column and hoping you read it right takes longer than picking two names from a menu. That is the whole point of a pal breeding calculator: less searching, same answer.

Planning a longer breeding project

Some tools let you search backwards, for example “show me every pair that makes a Sweepa”. That needs a stored list of every combination, so this version stays simple. Pick two parents, read the child, then check the notes above for pairs that skip the formula. To work backwards by hand, look up the rank of the Pal you want and find two parents whose ranks average close to it.

Where Palpedia and the Palworld map fit in

Breeding rank is only part of the picture. The in-game Palpedia is where you confirm a Pal’s element, size and drops once it hatches, which is worth checking before you give it a base slot. The Palworld map matters too, because many rarer breeding parents only spawn in certain biomes or dungeons, and finding them is often the harder half of the grind.

Frequently asked questions

How does breeding work in Palworld?

Put a male and a female Pal in a Breeding Farm with a Cake in the box. They produce an egg every few minutes, and that egg hatches into a child decided by the parents’ averaged breeding rank, or by a fixed override for certain named pairs.

Does gender matter when breeding?

Almost never. Most pairings ignore which parent is male or female. The notable exception is Wixen and Katress, where the male parent decides whether you get Wixen Noct or Katress Ignis.

Can Alpha or boss Pals breed?

Yes, once you have caught one. Alpha status does not change the breeding rank, which stays tied to the species. Keep in mind that some of the strongest species, such as Jetragon and Frostallion, only breed with their own kind.

Do offspring inherit passive skills?

Yes. A child can inherit up to four passive skills from either parent, with a small chance of a completely random one. This is separate from which species hatches, so breeding for a species and breeding for passives are two different grinds.

Where can I look up a Pal’s full stats?

The in-game Palpedia and its wiki version list stats, drops and work suitability for every Pal. This calculator only covers the breeding rank side.
